Our Aveda Artists share their thoughts on the power of appreciation, and we’re hoping you’ll do the same.

Being grateful has been shown to improve our well-being and happiness, while elevating our energy, optimism and empathy. But sometimes when things are going well we take them for granted, and when we are faced with challenges, we forget to accentuate the positive.

With Thanksgiving upon us, it seems like the ideal time to focus on the simple gifts life offers us every day.

“Gratitude is the lifeline of peace that brings us happiness,” says Woody Theis, Master Stylist, Juut SalonSpa, Minneapolis, Minnesota. “When we’re living in a place of unhappiness, if we just write down what we’re grateful for, it immediately transforms our view of the world into peacefulness.”

“Gratitude keeps you humble and lets you feel rich in your life,” adds Ricardo Dinis, Aveda Global Artistic Director, Hair Cutting. “I express my gratitude daily by trying to be a nice person and make people feel special.”

We think that’s pretty powerful stuff. More Aveda Artists share what they most treasure and why they feel being grateful leads to a more positive life that in turns can have a powerful affect on all those they come in contact with, form friends and families to students. Hear what they have to say:

And since they were so uplifting, we couldn’t wait to share a few words of thanks right now:

  • “Gratitude is so important because people need to know that they’re appreciated. And it’s amazing how kind words can go such a long way.” — Heggy Gonzalez, Creative Director, Aveda Institutes Colorado, Arizona, Utah
  • “For me, living in gratitude is always letting the people around me know how thankful I am to have them in my life.” — Bea Watson, Global Educator, Styling
  • “Gratitude enhances our relationships, happiness and well-being.” — Alberto Rossell-Levy, Regional Hair Color Education Manager, Neill TSP, Dallas, Texas
  •  “I am most grateful for the people around me, because they inspire me with their lifestyles, energy, and ideas.” — Masa Honda, Aveda Japan Pure-Fessional

Now it’s your turn. Please tell us what you cherish the most using the hashtag #Grateful on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. We’ll be so grateful you did.
